September is World Alzheimer’s Month and this time each year, people from around the world come together to raise awareness about dementia. September 2021 marks the tenth year of this important global awareness campaign.

Rates of dementia are increasing; every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia. There are currently 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia, this is set to rise to 1 million by 2025 and to 2 million by 2050.

Join Dementia Research

Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia, around 850,000 people are currently living with dementia in the UK. This is estimated to increase to 1 million by 2025 and to 2 million by 2050. Research is the only way we can tackle this growing challenge and you can help.

At Join Dementia Research we match volunteers with study teams to conduct vital research that aims to improve diagnosis, treatment and care. Anyone aged over 18 can join us with or without a dementia diagnosis. Over 50,000 people have already signed up to take part in research, but we need to continue to grow.

The more people who register, the faster we can make a difference to people’s lives. So this World Alzheimer’s Month, we asked, why is it important for you to pass it on to others about Join Dementia Research?

I’m going to pass it on about Join Dementia Research because research is the future for us to solve the dementia challenge.

We need more people with and without dementia to take part in vital research.

Volunteers are crucial for helping us understand more about the diseases that cause dementia.

I want to cherish my memories, and I want others to be able to always cherish theirs to.

All of us can do something about supporting people who are living with dementia today and those who may be living with dementia in the future.

We want to improve treatment now and for future generations

by being involved you could be part of the next breakthrough in dementia treatments.

Everybody needs the opportunity to be asked by nurses if they want to be involved in research or not.

Research equals change.

Help us to beat dementia.

Research is the solution

Research is the only way we will solve the dementia challenge. The more people who know about research opportunities and get involved, the greater the chance we have to improve diagnosis, treatment and care – and one day find a cure.

Join Dementia Research makes it so easy to get involved in dementia research; anyone over 18 with or without a diagnosis can get involved. Research can involve many different types from online questionnaires and puzzles to focus groups, scans and drug trials.

But not enough people know about this opportunity.

Who will you #PassItOn to?
