New volunteers sign up as Prime Minister launches national dementia mission
On 14 August 2022, the Prime Minister launched a national mission to tackle dementia in memory of the late Dame Barbara Windsor.
He called for volunteers to join ‘Babs’ Army’ and sign up to Join Dementia Research. Since then we’ve welcomed hundreds of new people to the service from all over the UK.

Since the service was set up in 2015, there have been over 60,000 enrolments onto studies through Join Dementia Research.
Our amazing volunteers
Our volunteers played a key role in the US and Europe decisions about the Alzheimer’s drug aducanumab, because 30% of the participants on UK clinical trials came through Join Dementia Research.
There are currently many drug studies in development and as well as these, we offer a range of different research opportunities including online questionnaires, focus groups, scans and memory tests.
Hear from our volunteers Maureen and Derek who discuss their experience of the service.
Join us!
We need more people to take part in research, so we encourage you to join us and help to improve diagnosis, treatment and care.
