Join Dementia Research and COVID-19
An update from Professor Martin Rossor, NIHR National Director for Dementia Research
We wanted to give you an update on the effect of COVID-19 on Join Dementia Research.
In line with Government guidance on reducing person-to-person contact, many studies, including those that involve meeting with the researcher, will be put on hold. This is to keep healthcare professionals and participants safe, and to allow research teams to support healthcare delivery where possible.
These decisions will depend on the individual study. If a study you are in is affected by this change, then this will be communicated to you by the main investigator.
For the time being, Join Dementia Research will no longer match you to studies that involve direct contact.
However, there are many studies on Join Dementia Research that do not involve person-to-person contact, and many of you have generously contributed to these – thank you. These studies will continue.
For the latest guidance on COVID-19, and steps to care for yourself and others, please see the NHS website.
If you have particular questions about a study you are on, please contact the research team that runs the study. If you have general questions about Join Dementia Research at this time please do contact our team.
Many thanks for your understanding and stay safe.
