How are COVID-19 closures affecting people with dementia and their carers?
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many of the face-to-face services people with dementia and their carers often rely on are temporarily closed.
Unpaid carers may now be struggling to provide enough support for their loved ones and those living alone with dementia could be shut off from much needed social support.
A national team of NHS, voluntary and academic collaborators have been brought together by the University of Liverpool to try and help.

To understand the immediate and longer-term implications of these COVID-19 related closures, the research team are asking the people most affected to complete a questionnaire if they can.
The survey is UK-wide, and can be completed online or via the phone.
Taking part requires a commitment of 30 minutes on three separate occasions over a period of 12 weeks.
Who can take part?
Researchers need people who stayed socially active by using support groups, social activities in the community, befrienders or day care centres to take part:
- people with a diagnosis of dementia
- friends / family members who act as unpaid carers for people with dementia
- anyone aged over 65.
